That game definitely pushed me towards console gaming back in the day more so than PC gaming. Fun fact, RvB is usually running in the background while I work on Bendy. I became, and still am, a fan of Rooster Teeth from when they created Red vs Blue because of Halo. Not only that I loved the team working on it and the community it created. I fell in love with the Halo universe when it was originally released on the original Xbox. Has a game ever made an emotional impact on you? which game/why?

theMeatly was wearing a Bendy shirt and our waiter came up and pointed at his shirt and said “Oh cool, Bendy!” We then said, “We’re the creators” and our waiter was at a loss for words. I think one of the coolest moments for both theMeatly and I was when we were at dinner in a restaurant waiting to meet the PhatMojo team to discuss making apparel and toys for Bendy. We love our fans either way, the fact that they make it a point to talk to us, draw stuff, and just be apart of our universe is amazing. The last thing I want to do is disrespect any fans of our game, but I can say there’s definitely some strange ones out there! If you’re a fan reading this and you’re thinking “I think he’s talking about me…” chances are I am not and you’re probably extremely normal. What’s the weirdest fan encounter you’ve had as a result of BATIM?

We’re planning on big updates to Chapter One and Chapter Two before we even release Chapter Three, which is going amazingly I might add.Įven though the low point sucked, it was a total lesson learned and we’re better for it now! theMeatly and I haven’t taken any money that the game has made, we reinvested it right back into the company and production so that we can make an amazing game.

Though we don’t plan on doing that again, we have an actual development timeline for Chapter 3, we’ve hired 2 full time employees to make this an amazing experience. Luckily upon releasing and hearing people loved it that brought our sprits back up. At some points we were miserable, disliking the game, having to cut parts out we loved, it just wasn’t good. We spent endless hours crunching on this just to bring it to the fans as soon as possible.

The low point? Putting a tight deadline on ourselves… So a lot of people don’t know this but we actually made a complete remake of Chapter One and fully created Chapter Two in approximately 6 weeks time. To have the ability to speak with our fan base is amazing because I know we would have loved talking to our favorite devs! We remember what it was like to be young and have a favorite game with no real ease of communication with the creators. We try our hardest to engage with our fans where we can. The fact that people love our game, draw pictures of our game, make videos, songs, etc, is more than any creative person can ask for. The high point of making this game has always been the fans. What was the low/high point of making this game (so far)? I feel like this is a round about way of getting some secrets out of me, so I have to be careful on what I say… Based on the current story that’s available to players I would say that Bendy and I don’t give up and we pursue whatever it is we’re after without hesitation. What do you share most in common with Bendy? So, the TL DR on this is, nope, not at all, this was merely a test environment. However, people fell in love with it in under a week and basically had no choice but to stop everything and get to work on Chapter Two. There was zero thought that this would actually take off, because we were working on another game at the time, this was just a side fun mini project. The one thing that I changed before we went into release was the terminology used, it was BATIM “Demo” and after thinking about it I suggested we do “Chapter One” just in case some people liked it then maybe we could continue the story. A lot of the main mechanics and elements in the game were added at the last day of development before we released it to Game Jolt. So we spent 5 days updating, optimizing, and adding more to it. However I knew that there would be some issues on lower end PC’s and it needed some optimizing. I was super impressed since theMeatly is not a programmer and what he managed to pull off. The original idea was all done by theMeatly asking himself, “What would it be like to walk in a 3D sketch.” He made the original game demo in a short time and I had a sneak peek of it. Bendy and the Ink Machine was just a little semi game jam game that my partner, theMeatly, and I worked on. Afterwards, you can check out a video interview with Mike and thMeatly!ĭid you expect BATIM to be this well-received? Why/why not?Ībsolutely not. It’s a fun read, especially since we know just how far things have come.
